Everton fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Wilfried Zaha’s performance against them at Goodison Park on Saturday.
The 17-cap Ivory Coast international was heavily linked with a move to the Toffees back in the summer – the Merseysiders saw an offer of £70m + Cenk Tosun & James McCarthy rejected – coincidentally, both players now play under Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park.
Since the season began, Zaha has notched three goals and three assists in 26 Premier League appearances, with one of those assists coming on Saturday as he played Christian Benteke through in goal before the Belgian drilled a low effort under Jordan Pickford.
In addition to his assist, the 27-year-old completed three dribbles and had one shot on goal, in what was a fairly quiet display other than his involvement in the Eagles’ goal.
Goals from Bernard, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw Carlo Ancelotti’s men take all three points, although a few Everton fans were in the mood to dissect Zaha’s performance following the full-time whistle…
To kick off the reaction to Zaha’s performance, @thetoffees_com said that they’re “not too fussed” that Everton didn’t get Zaha in the summer, before saying that he’s “not even half the player Richarlison is” – harsh.
@KeanforCarlo then added that the Crystal Palace star has “no end product” and is “no different to Iwobi” – this fan also added that the club can do better than the Ivorian.
However, these two fans both praised the Eagles No.11.
Mark said that he thinks Zaha is a “belter player” and would have him at Goodison Park “tomorrow” – Stu then added that he’d “like to see” the former Manchester United winger at the club, as he would give Ancelotti “options up top and wide”.
Lastly, these two fans also shared their views on the forward’s performance.
George said that he’s “so glad he never signed” and added that Richarlison is ten times the player Zaha will ever be.
Someone’s got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?
Paul then said that, while he likes the attacker, he felt that the Crystal Palace academy graduate was “woeful” on Saturday.
